all group shot families and veterans final

Late summer is a great time for baseball, and the second week of August will feature a number of exciting events, all leading up to the big Major League Baseball game being played at the Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville, Iowa on August 11th.  When the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds take to the field, it’s expected that another record high number of viewers will watch this regular season baseball game. Fans will enjoy several days of festivities planned in Dyersville and nearby cities, ranging from downtown block parties, viewing parties, free concerts, and a Fanfest celebration.

In addition, there will be some private events held that week to celebrate news that Field of BIG Dreams has been established, and to share more about our mission. Special events ranging from a celebrity golf outing in Galena, a private reception hosted by Frank Thomas in Dubuque, and a charity game played at the Field of Dreams movie site will cap off a week of celebrations that will add to the fun and meaning behind the game itself.

The week of the MLB game to be played in Dyersville, our charity is releasing a special video that was filmed at the Field of Dreams movie site in July. This video highlights the mission of Field of BIG Dreams and those we aim to serve.  We were honored to welcome several families representing the pediatric cancer community, as well as local veterans who served in different branches of our country’s armed forces, who took part in the filming of our video. In the opening scene you will meet some local heroes, Kyden Decker and his mom Nikki, as well as Brian Pfeiler. Kyden is a young pediatric cancer survivor, and Brian is a veteran who served in the U.S. Army.  Both have inspiring stories of courage and perseverance, and we are proud to feature them in our mission video, along with many other amazing individuals who represent those to be served by Field of BIG Dreams. To watch our video, please find it next to Our Mission, and to learn more about Kyden, his family, and Brian, please read the other articles found under In The News.

August is here so let the fun, excitement and BIG dreams begin!
